In Mana Pools you are allowed to get out of the vehicle, with or without armed guide. These dogs were not playing the game, and we were forced to bum crawl about 50 metres not easy with a 500mm, but I figure it was worth it. When we got there I laid on my more than ample belly for support.

I like your composition and the tension in their poses. Neat. My only experience in Africa, many years ago, was a Mano Pools...and it is truly a magical place where one is allowed to roam and experience. Of course that leads to lots of possible situations where one could encounter serious trouble!

Very appealing Ken; I like the juxtaposition of the two heads, the clear eyes, the low angle and the nice OOF BG. Great crawl work! :toast:

Worth the effort, I'd say. They really pop against that background.

Well worth the belly crawl to come up with this alert looking pair posing so beautifully for you.

Thanks everybody four your kind comments, they are much appreciated. I just wish that having gone all that way the dogs had not moved off, but they were scared off by another group approching bolt upright, oh well.

I really like their expressions Ken. You have placed the subjects very well in the composition in my opinion. Good job getting both their faces in focus. The log blocking the view of the one dog isn't ideal, maybe you could darken it a little to make it less noticeable.

I've heard about using a beanbag for a big lens, but never one to support the photographer! (Your 'ample belly'!) :jump:

I like everything: the expression is fantastic, the relative position of the two dogs, the light, the background and the way they stand against it.
