Diane I really like the numerous elements in this image. The aurora seems to mimick and create a second horizon, red taillights fading to yellow, stars present above and below the aurora and the placement of the roadway eminating from the LLC (but not in it) and leading you thru the frame. Well done.

BTW it must have been a great show because they were reporting on the news in Kansas City that the northern lights were even visible here that night!

Cool shot! I agree with the preceding commentator about all the different elements coming together. I was wondering whether you saw any different colors in the display that the camera didn't capture?
Jim
P.S. Am I right in thinking that the car(s) must have been "flying" past you, judging by the distance covered in 15 sec. or is that a result of the 17mm?

I love it Diane. This is very cool. The taillights add an element that really makes this shine for me. Very well done. No nits here; I love the exposure and the comp.

Such wonderful comments - Thank YOU!!! The composition really came together, but kinda by accident. Where I was, I couldn't avoid the cars, this one just happened to go by at the right time. I waiting with the shutter press and hoped for the best! The cars were probably going 100km/hr on that road, that could account for the distance in 15sec. The auroras that night, before i left, were mostly white to the eye, a little bit of greenish and then a sudden red bit, will post that photo later. It was glorious and fascinating and truly amazing to witness the colours, display and the eventual corona. I was blessed to have been there. Too bad I went home when I did, is all I can say. I should have stayed out longer. Oh well, live and learn!
