Oh man it was cold in Kananaskis last Saturday. -28C (-18F) without the windchill. BUT... I got a new camera last week, so nuts if I wasn't going out shooting anyways.

My goal in setting up this shot was to try to capture some of the coldness of the atmosphere contrasted against the warmth of the sunrise.

I included a larger version to show some of the detail in the FG.

You've achieved your goal Jeff, nice light and the hint of warmth on the higher ground looks good above the frozen lake. Great detail in the ice too.

Gary.

THis image certainly conveys "COLD."
Great light. The bit of reflection in the icy water, and the cold mist coming off the lake in the warmth of the sun are excellent.
My only suggestion would be to try moving the frame a little to the left so the mountains and ice edge leading to the mountains are not dead-center.
Just fine as is, though.

Nice warm light on the mountain Jeff but the blue ice adds a nice sense of cold. Grand view with a nice touch of mist in the distance.

Wonderful Jeff. The large version gives a much better impression (what a good print would be like). Your logo resembles the mountain(s) in the bg quite well.

Great shot Jeff! Good job capturing the contrasts in this scene... love the fg detail! Hey, did you notice if the water was still open up the road more towards Kananaskis? I'm planning to get out there Monday morning and was hoping for open water.

This definately feels cold. The warm light on the peaks and lower slopes is very nice.

Happy Holidays

Just splendid. I like everything about this image but probably the red touching the many ridges of the mountains contrasting the cold blue. More!

Jeff, the detail in this is great. Good job with the sharpness throughout the image and the highlights in the background really make the mountains stand out. Beautiful image! :toast:

Well composed and great detail. I also like how you captured the rays of light on the mountain. The larger version does even more justice to your work.
