Pheasant

Hi everyone! I'm sorry we've been so busy I couldn't post for a while.

This is another one of the pictures I got on a road trip with my dad this spring. We had spotted a few pheasants while driving on a back road, but every time we stopped for pictures they disappeared. Finally, this guy stuck around for a few minutes and I got some pictures. Wow these guys are hard to keep in focus the way they move so quickly with all the grass around them!

My dad said you'd probably mention how it's better to have the bird looking into the picture but we both liked how this looked anyway. I love his colours and his bright eye, and the way he stands out from all the tan grass.

Thanks for your comments!

Your dad called it, but a beautiful bird. I can appreciate the difficulty—I hunted these with my dad and granddad as a kid. We were lucky to come back with one bird at day's end.

Good looking pheasant -- colors look very good -- I would try a vertical crop to put more emphasis onthis very pretty bird

Colors and sharpness look good Marlise. I agree with your dad that it would be better to have the bird looking more toward the viewer and I might place the bird further left in the frame if I could.

Looks like you made the best use of the opportunity the bird gave you. All my Ring-necked photos have the bird moving away...
