This butterfly was captured at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum outside Superior, AZ. This location specializes in desert-adapted plants. I only got off 3 shots before it flew away, this being the best one. Comments & critiques welcome.

Great butterfly shot, Tonia. You had good plane of focus control to get this butterfly in nice focus but still have a pleasant blurred BG. IMO I think I would like to see some of the left side cropped.

Very nice capture. I concur with Carolyn's suggestion to crop some of the empty space on the left.

The shot feels heavy on the right - a crop (as others have suggested) would help. I love the clean details in the wings.

Great DOF, colors, and details Tonia, I like the soft green BG too.
I agree with the others about the space left.
Nice shot as posted :wavey:

As suggested, here is a cropped version for your review. Do you guys like this one better?

Personally, I prefer the repost. I actually had less of a crop in mind but I like your decision to crop even more and make this a vertical. It's a significantly different image. Both are good.

The vertical crop works better for me too, Tonia. Nice colors set against the smooth background, well done.

Tonia, I like the crop you did for your repost. You can see the beautifly butterfly much better in this cropped version.

Well seen and nicely captured, I also happen to like the vertical crop as well, way to go.
