Whoa, what a beauty! So painterly, and such a calm, soothing scene. B&W works perfectly here. Very impressive Chris.

Fantastic work here Chris. That fog bank in the bg adds so much, this time without being too white or feature-less. It adds such a great atmosphere and sense of magic to the scene. The bw conversion works also great for this scene. Congrats!

This is magnificent Chris! Yosemite must be a glorious place in winter. The light storm in the middle is glorious. B&W was an excellent choice here.

Id probably tone down the highlites just a bit, i think subdued fits the mood better; but other than that this is outstanding! :toast:

Chris,

You must be channeling George Fiske, if you can find any of his images you can check it out. There's quite a bit of info on line. Your definitely making Yosemite in winter your own. Fiske did have a major one up though he lived in the valley year round. This image has a magical mystical quality, provided by the fog, or lightly falling snow. BW perfect.

Chris,

Congrats! This came out beautifully! Just like I recall it and you've captured the moment perfectly. You may or may not need to play with the highlights, it's hard to tell at this size and I'm looking on my laptop. But you most certainly have a grand, Yosemite "winter wonderland" image here. A great addition to your growning portfolio.

Maybe it's a film thing... but my version from here didn't come nearly this good and subsequently is not part the chronicles series. I'm very glad this one came out beautifully for you.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I'm not necessarily saying the brightness isn't more than the actual moment. But I do prefer it a liitle bright compared to another frame that I processed a little less bright. That frame has a lot less fog though too.

Lon,
Sorry your film version didn't come out, but you sure got a nice suite of images from that weekend. I just returned from the first night of the Christmas Bazzar that I'm participating in. I had a 18x28 inch print of this framed in a heavy(double thick) black mat and black walnut frame there. It garnered a lot of attention, and I think it looks great! Of course everyone loves it, but they don't want to put out the cash. Oh well, I'll be happy to hang it on my wall.

Oh wow! People are rocking shots lately. The atmosphere must have been something Chris.
Shooting scenes like this are so much fun and rewarding. The one thing I lack that you have is the third element. The background mountains peeking through giving that wonderful depth. It would be just sky here and I think that is important in your shot. Well done!
