mystery solved

The director of the Sugar Grove Nature Center told me about a nuthatch that had been in the area for a couple of years, but always used only one leg when it came to the feeders around their building. I was trying for small bird photos near the feeders but not on the feeders. I noticed this nuthatch hanging from the bottom of the feeder with only one foot. Quickly took several shots, but only one showed that it's left leg had been damaged, or somehow twisted, and basicly useless. The mystery was solved. Somehow the nuthatch had adjusted to life with only one good leg. Of course it would be the one photo that was not in sharp focus.

A good documentary photo. The photo elicits sympathy and admiration. I agree about the lack of sharp focus.

A very good capture, showing the broken leg. I agree with Phil on the technical deficiencies, but still a powerful photo.
