Bearadise !

Another one from Lake Clark Natl park ! An attempt at portraying the misty mood of the place. Not sure if it makes an impact with the bear being tiny in the frame. Gets a little better viewer large. That was actually the biggest bear we saw. Wish he were closer to the pond :frown:

There is a 3000 metre volcano (Mt Illiamna) barely a dozen or so miles beyond the bear. Its rarely visible thanks to all the mist.

Close to full frame, a tiny crop from the bottom.
Nikon D5000,16-85 @ 62mm, f8, 1/400, iso 400.

IMHO this is a very good photo. I like the bear in its environment as you have caught. The misty sky BG and the water FG all contributed to a fine image. Thanks for sharing.

Whilst the Bear is relatively small in the frame its position is great and the image conveys its enviroment very well

I really like this kind of pictures with the animal in its environment. The tall tree on the left makes balance in the composition. Nice image.

Hey Anand,

Very well-executed "enviroscape" here! As the others have said, this very nicely shows the environment the bear lives in and gives a very good "sense of place". For an image such as this I would argue that the bear being smaller contributes to the "feel" (and definitely the "expansiveness") of the setting.

Cheers...

Anand, good work I think you have achieved what you set out to do in capturing the bears enviroment very well. The misty sky behind is a very nice touch to the overall effect that you had wished to portray in this image.

Sometimes the smallness of the bear only serves to highlight the vastness of the wilderness. I really like this image a lot. Well done. :toast:
