A Spiritual Path

by Phillip Noll

Gallery: Man & NaturePosted December 4, 2011558 views17 comments
The California Redwoods are such a magical place! I love walking among the giants, especially in the fog. Nowhere else is the connection I feel to all living things greater or more palpable. On this morning as the fog lifted and the sun shone through I felt very blessed to be walking this spiritual path.

Canon 1Ds, 16-35mm L @ 16mm, f/22, ISO 100, four exposure blend with shutter speeds at 1.6, 0.8, 0.4, & 1/6 sec., polarizer, tripod.

C&C welcome!

Beautiful crepuscular rays lighting a lovely scene. The backlit greens and the path add to the magical feeling. This is a poster shot.

I agree, the backlit leaves look great and the comp is wonderful. I get a peaceful feeling with this one for sure.
I like how you got the exposures to look so right. Nice processing.

I'm a bit envious. I've always wanted a shot like this. The trail makes a great leading line to that terrific lighting.

I like the way the image invites me into the scene. I'm not sure about the photomatix look, but I'm enjoying the message and inspiration a lot.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

@David: I'm not sure what you mean by "Photomatix Look". Could you elaborate? I've tried very hard to make this photo look completely natural with no post processing artifacts. If that is not the case, I would like to see what I can do to improve it. Thanks!
