rain on poppy

This is my first post. I hope to hear from anyone so I can improve my photography. This is a California poppy that was in my backyard. I have taken out my lawn and put in native California plants. In the spring I don't have to go but a few feet from the door to take pictures. I saw this flower while my wife and I were cooking. It started to rain slightly and I grabbed my camera......
Canon 50D, 100mm macro lens, tripod, natural light.

Greg, welcome to NPN and the Macro gallery. This photo makes for an excellent introduction to you and your photography. I like the in your face comp and the shape and saturated color of the poppy petals. The raindrops create a nice mood. My only suggestion would be a pinch more room on the right and top, but this is certainly excellent as is. :wavey:

Welcome to NPN, a very nice colorful first post. The water drops on the poppy really bring you into the image, I might of considered taking an image straight into the center of the poppy but there are so many ways to approach a macro shot.
