The amount of detail in the large version is amazing Eva, totally agree with you about the colour of the sea. It looks like a lovely beach.

Gary.

That's a very good scan Eva. I must say I am quite taken with the Silverfast scans those colours leap off the page but they do it quite naturally. Everything rings perfectly true and it feels like I can just step into it. Even the most delicate lined texture in the sand is showing up. Just nip off the very top of your scan to remove a tiny bit of rebate on the big image.

I like this very much, Eva. The light, clouds, awesome looking water and beautiful beach all come together so well. I would love spending some time on the beach. The large version is wonderful.

Didn't really see the fine lines until I opened the large version - great detail and color!

Ah, those lines of foam in the front are fun, made me laugh. The runoff lines in the sand are also neat, but you've got to see the larger version to appreciate them. Lovely scene!

Hi Ian - Many thanks. I missed the tiny black line in the upper right since I use a black background in PS. Probably should not do that with film or digital for that matter but I do. I don't know if other scan software works the same way, but I pre-scan then adjust any color and contrast differences from the transparency in Silverfast. I then scan (usually 2 strips of transparencies at a time on the Epson V750) 16-bit TIFF 300 dpi for a 30 inch wide print. I can individually optimize each frame. Two strips, 6 frames take less than 30 minutes to scan. Sometimes I still need to make minor adjustments in PS but not here. File size is 600MB - 650MB (yikes!) and maybe overkill but my Lenovo W701ds Workstation Quad core i7 16 MB laptop with wide gamut 17" RGB monitor (with built in Huey Pro color calibrator) handles those size files with no issues. This is the machine I do all my serious work on. Unorthodox but it works for me. Really appreciate your input Ian. Eva

Eva,

Definitely need to view this large, the details and patterns in the sand are quite nice. That's something that is lost in the smaller version. In fact I would suggest a pano crop of the top 2/3 just by viewing the small version. I wouldn't crop the large version. Solid seascape. And I agree, nice job with the scan and processing.

Beautiful color in the water and wonderful details in the sand. Your composition makes one feel 'right there'. Love it. While some may dispute it, I find it quite remarkable how the MF film has such a different look compared to digital. Have really enjoyed seeing your digital and film images from Scotland.
