Scott love the comp and light. Great action. Wondering what size crop this is. The larger image lacks a bit of fine detail I would expect to see if this was a near full-frame shot.

The catfish makes the image for me. Nice timing. I'd be happier if the cormorant wasn't right at the left edge here. I agree with Ron B about the larger version and wonder about the crop if you you forgot to apply some sharpening or something to it.

It is a large crop -- this is 14% of the original - the action esp the open mouth of the fish facing the camera was just too much for me to ignore

Really nice capture Scott. I can understand why you sacrificed a bit of detail and went with the large crop, although if you have it maybe just a bit more of the bird on the left?

The oystercracker makes this image! I don't know what you had to start with, but might play with some other crop options. Great timing to get this! Sharon

Nice catch by you and the bird, Scott. I like the perfect angle of the fish in the shot, and the great detail in both.

Great catch and action. I like the open fish mouth-kind of looks as if he is calling for help. The larger version is somewhat soft. It appears that you may have done some "hand" noise reduction and missed some areas inside the cormorant's mouth. I find problems with the eyes not appearing very sharp on my own cormorant images and I see a similar problem here. A looser crop would not compromise the view of the action.

Great timing, plus fish with mouth open and so sharp make for a really interesting composition.
