Good, for the really lousy light you seem to have had. This is one of those images where critique would be helped by technicals and condition explanations.

Hello Phil, light conditions were so bad when we saw the whale. When we come back light change and the ocean turn so blue and beautiful....

Hi Juan,
Pretty cool seeing one of these massive beasts. They do appear to be bouncing back in numbers quite nicely and we're starting to see them fairly frequently again on the west coast of BC.
I actually don't mind the lighting here myself and quite like how the overall scene is quite blue - seems fitting for a blue whale. Nice continuous curtain of water coming off the trailing edge of the tail. When I look at the larger version of the image it looks a tad on the soft side (sharpness wise) - I get the feeling this might be a fairly large crop? But regardless, getting any shot at all of one of these impressive animals is success in itself - so well done.
Cheers...
Brad
PS: Please don't hesitate to jump in and comment on the images of others. While I know the recommended ratio of 5 comments for every image post can be tough to achieve and maintain, getting a little closer to this comment:image ratio would be appreciated. I know many newer members are a little hesitant to leave comments, but ultimately the success of all the galleries are determined largely by the comments members leave on the images that are posted. And, I'm sure you'll find that once you get into the regular practice of creating your own critiques that you'll think more about, and improve, your own photography.
If you're unsure or uneasy about commenting/"critiquing" there are several good resources on this website discussing it. Start right here:
