I'm posting this one because I'm pretty sure this osprey was looking directly at me, so I like that about the image. I'm going to work on waiting to see if I can get osprey images when they come down closer to the water so the bird can be larger in the frame with less crop. Usually they're flying faster then, so it's harder, but I'm going to keep trying.

Comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Barbara, it's really cool to see the work you're doing lately. you are really working hard and getting after difficult subjects and getting better and better because of it. the sharpness and exposure here both look good, which is the sound foundation on which to continue with flight shots. as the bird gets closer (and faster) you may be better served getting up to 1/2000 and using ISO 400. I like the way the osprey is looking right at you too. for me this would work better with more room to the left (and less on the right). I'd consider this more of a downward look than a backward look, and of course the bird is moving left, so I'd like some more room there for it to move into. with this bg, that's easily done. keep up the hard work and the good work.

Barbara, I agree with everything Brian has said. And I know what you mean that they move faster when they are low and closer to you. Great image.

The Osprey is sharp and your exposure looks good. I like the direct look you got from the bird. Agree that the Osprey should be further right in the frame.

Thank you very much for the comments and feedback! I have moved three inches from the right to the left and I also moved 1/2 inch from the bottom to the top.

Nice job getting this flight shot, not an easy thing to do. I do like your repost better as the osprey is moving into the frame. There is some nice detail on the larger version for 50% of FF and those yellow eyes draw you in, way to go, keep up the good work.

The repost composition is more satisfying to me as well. Technicals are looking good - your work and patience are paying off here.
