I caught a moonrise while chasing the sun on Dec 8 2011. This field is just down from my house and has been the source of several good shots through the years.

Nikon D300
18-200mm zoom lens
65mm
F/13
320s
Standard color setting

You did well to catch the color in the sky and a good exposure for the moon. The composition would improve if the horizon and tree were not blending together and if we could see the bottom of the tree.

I like the mood and composition. The moon adds some further atmosphere. Very nice work Shirley!

Nice picture. The colors are beautiful. I agree with the idea of trying to separate the tree from the horizon and also I think using more focal distance (say, using the 200), would have made the moon much larger in the frame. Anyway, nice one indeed!

Beautiful colors Shirley. I agree with the comments about a lower perspective and more focal length.

Nice color and I like the form of the tree. You might consider cropping the dark bottom to concentrate on the moon and tree.

I had to shoot this while sitting sideways behind the wheel of my car on a country road. I didn't get the bottom of the tree because there was a barbed wire fence in the way and I didn't want it in the shot. The colors are added saturation. Thanks for the input, though.
I tried to get a full moonrise this month, but the clouds of the season got in my way and I got neither sunset nor moonrise. I'll have to wait till next month and try again.

I love the colors in the sky and you captured the mood really well. Too bad the horizon and the tree are blending together.
