I took a few friends for their first trip to the Eastern Sierras on Hwy. 395. I was happy to have some dramatic weather, but the clouds covered Mt. Whitney. We hiked in the Alabama Hills and I saw the sun poke through the clouds for a moment. There was a light rain which gave the vertical rainbow.

Nice composition and great timing to catch this shot. I would like it more if it were a bit lighter. It does have a somber brooding feel. Thanks for sharing.

Greg,

Great timing indeed and a wonderful moment along the east side of the Sierra. I think you've captured a pretty unique lighting situation and whether it's a lens/flare combo or whatever, the captured result is excellent. I don't mind the partial sun at the top as I think the composition is quite good. Those colored rays of light really make the image for me.
