Thanks for all the helpful comments on my last few images...always appreciated.
Still working on some fall images and this one is from near the Summit Lake Trailhesd just outside MRNP.
I found the structure of these branches fascinating without seeming too busy and the fact that they were on fire helped.
Compression is hurting this one but not too badly I hope.
Check out the larger version and thanks for looking.

Bruce, This is some beautiful fall color. I especially like how the tree branches stand out in the midst of all the leaves. I think this is even better without the upper 1/3 of the image. The more intimate crop looks very pleasing to me with just the mix of beautiful color and branches. Just my thought on this.

Nice shot and beautiful colors. For me, the bottom 2/3 of the image is fantastic and definitely the strongest part. I don't think the top portion adds much to the overall image. All the action, for me, is in the wonderful color, delicate branches, and intricate detail in the lower 2/3 of the frame.

I agree with the crop suggestions. The out of focus white trunks in the top third of the image add nothing and are very distracting.

I concur with the previous comments. I'd also crop the top third. Love the colors and branch patterns in the bottom 2/3.

Bruce,

Ditto on the previous crop suggestions. From your own comments, "I found the structure of these branches fascinating.." and I'm assuming you mean the branch structure in the trees below. The bright trunks in the bg are distracting and take away from the "ordered chaos" of the bottom. The easy and good news is that if you make a square crop of the bottom, you'll have a killer autumn image.

Yeah I hear you. My thinking was the uppermost branches were the most interesting, but I agree the square crop is a much stronger image.

Love the color and warm tonality of the leaves and the nice graphic appeal of the branches. Was thinking of a crop suggestion as well and your repost in my book, works spot on. Beautiful autumn image.

Bruce,

Thanks for taking the time to rework and repost the image. I LOVE the cropped image - right up my alley - very controlled and a great example of "ordered chaos." Even the dark branches in the LL help solidify the image.

"My thinking was the uppermost branches were the most interesting" The upper most branches of the foreground tree? Or the bright, white branches in the bg? I'm guessing the foreground tree. While I agree those are interesting and I can see why they attracted you, but ultimately, the background has a big role and I think overpowers the impact of the branches in the foreground - thus they kind of cancel each other out. The story is in the lower portion just like you've presented with your repost. I love it!
