I've always wanted to see the hippos with their mouths wide open. It was on my most desired list during my trip to Tanzania.

An early morning stop at the hippo pool provided some great opportunities for watching them in action. Usually they are not very active, but it was an overcast, cool morning and the hippos were being frisky. What fun to see these hippos so animated. After about an hour, the sun was coming out and the pool fumes started to become too much. So, on to the next adventure.

That is so funny! It looks like a mirror image! The water sure does looks stinky! Great pose!

What a terrific composition Margaret. I can almost smell the odor from all the gunk in the water.

The symmetry of the poses makes this a pleasing composition.
