This is another one from my last "Matterhorn Trip" in October. This one is taken early morning...the morning after my full moon night picture. It was about 5 am and the clouds were great early this morning. I didn't want to include the full moon here.....The full moon lighting the mountains and the clouds and since it was a backlight situation I lit up the two stones in the foreground with my flash light at the end of the exposure for about 10 seconds.

Techs: Nikon D700, AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR (@29mm), ISO 400, 89 sec & last 10 sec.using a flashlightto light up the two rocks, f9, polarizer

That's quite a cool effect from the long exposure. Very nice scene. The bottom 1/3 of the image is a bit vacant and it might be worth considering a semi-pano crop here. Or not . . . it's just fine as posted.

I guess I've seen this before. It's a very different representation of the place and in that really unique.

Bill, I think this is really nice. I really enjoy looking at the large version, it is a beautiful night/early morning scene. I like how you can see the rocks and plants under the foreground water too. Very cool looking image.

I like the background play of light and clouds but the foreground water doesn't do much for me. The low angle also makes the rocks blend in with the background.

Bill,
This is a great perspective & a great night shot. I do see the two foreground rocks as a bit bright & unnatural. They have great color and variety, but in a night shot, they could be toned down just a bit more to fit into the overall scene. It is a great capture!

Those clouds are really amazing. The feel like brushstrokes on the canvas. Bottom of the frame seems a bit dark to me.

Love the night mood you've captured here. The streaking clouds are great and the fg rocks are nicely lit. Perhaps a little dark overall, but a great capture all the same.

I like the effect the moonlight has on the mountains and snow. The rocks are interesting, but you might want to burn them down just a tad.

Bill,

Even though you didn't include the full moon (good choice I think,) the highlights in the lower portion of the lake are clear and lovely give aways that this is indeed a moonlit scene. and even though the light painting is a little apparent, it nearly looks moonlit as well. The end result of the cloud motion is quite interesting and I think effective. And the overall color here makes me think of Kodak Ektachrome for some reason....

I think this is a nicely executed full moon night photography reflectionscape. No nits or suggestions.

Cool take on this location. I find the light painted rocks a wee bit too bright, nevertheless a most interesting and quite striking landscape.
