Snowy reflection

A break from all of my landscape work with a bird photograph. I shot this back in march, and going through some old files I realized I never processed this one so I figured I'd work on it a bit. There isn't a lot of processing done to this mostly because I really only do slight processing on my wildlife images. Cropped from horizontal, noise reduction, contrast, and sharpening. I love watching these birds trying to flush out small fish and crustaceans, it's quite amusing. Anyways, comments and critiques are appreciated as always.

Peter, You have posted an image which is exactly what I have been trying to capture for a year and a half. Dark background, dark foreground, good reflection and a tack sharp Egret. My only critique is that it is yours and not mine. Even the ripple is perfect for this image. Since you have cropped from the horizontal you might want to add just a tad more room on the left for the Egret to look into. When my wife gets home I am going to tell her, this is what I have been trying to capture. Thanks so much for posting this non-landscape work. Merry Christmas and be blessed with great light in 2012.

Sweet image, Peter. The lighting is superb and I like the soft reflection. I agree with Harry that a bit more room on the left would make this fine image even better.

Thank you Harry. Glad I could provide the shot for you ha. I was pretty happy to get the ripples and reflection. As for the crop, I personally don't like square type crops so I wanted to avoid that, also there was a reflection of a birding blind (this was taken at a bird preserve) and I did not want to clone it out. I liked how the dark colors just contrasted with the bird as the bird blind was a bright green color. I hope you as well have a happy holiday!

Thanks Dennis. As I already mentioned about the crop, it was more of just personal taste. I didn't like the off color of the bird blind in the reflection.

Nice light, exposure and reflection. IQ looks good at this small size. I'm fine with your composition, especially considering what you said about the blind and avoiding cloning.
