Upper Kananaskis Lake

Here is a shot from yesterday morning at Upper Kananaskis Lake in Kananaskis Country, Alberta. The snow was deep and some of the hike to get here was a little tough without snow shoes, but my friend and I managed to get there for sunrise. I'm on the fence about this one and thought I would run it by you guys for your thoughts. I have a hard time achieving accurate colour in this type of light so please let me know what you think about the colour especially. Thanks for looking!

Color seems to be right. I'd expect a lot of purple and magenta in that light. Comp feels a bit lonely in the top left corner. Some fun textures and lines in the fg. Good effort :)

Love the foreground textures, Wayne! Hard to tell with a web view but the colours all come across as accurate.

Processing looks very natural to my eye. Love the way you've used the shapes in the foreground. Beautiful scenics.

Wayne,

Not sure what you might be on the fence about - this is beautiful! I think the composition is well balanced and I like how you've given the edge of emphasis to the foreground ice and snow patterns. The color balance seems quite natural to me, although the purple hues remind me so much of what Velvia would display in these conditions. Beautiful color in the sky and the whites on the mountains are lovely. The square format is doing justice to this scene nicely. Well done.

This works beautifully for me as is, Wayne. The colors look very natural to me and I simply love the detail and texture in the snow. This is being super picky, but do you have any comps just a bit to the left? I am curious as to what it would like like if the one section of snow on the middle right side did not bleed into one of those in the water. Either way this is fantastic.

Wonderful color and fantastic texture in the snow Wayne. Something about the peak of the foreground snow on the right merging with the mid-ground snow tuft bugs me a bit, but that's getting pretty picky. This is really great, looks cold.

Looks like a solid image to me  The sky colour looks fine, and so does the overall composition.

Buy some snowshoes

Nice shot and the square comp works although more room on the sides would be nice. Color looks good to me. I'm really wishing we had snow like this in Manitoba. :frown:

The foreground shapes and textures could be their own picture. You really got some nice light here.

Wayne, This is a beautiful winter scene!! I like your comp and the square format, and then there is that wonderful winter color and light that I just love. A also enjoy the textures of the foreground ice and snow. Very nice Wayne! Happy Holidays to you.

The color of your image looks very neutral to me. But I would also try a slight increase in intensity, you may be able to get a little more impact out of this one.

No fence sitting needed here Wayne! This is beautiful. Absolutely no nits from me. Well done - worth the long walk.
