Montana Night (WC 515)

This is one of my favorites from 2011, showing the southern sky and roughly balanced lights in our Montana house. I didn't notice the meteor (or more likely satellite) until I downloaded the pictures. This version incorporates some of the suggestions from the original post plus some improved processing. (5D, 24-70 f2.8 @ 27mm, 30s, f/2.8, iso 1000, tripod & cable release)

Stellar. I'm envious. You are extremely fortunate to be able to enjoy (and photograph) night skies like this beauty.

I remember your original post, and just went back and looked at it. I like the image, and you balanced the house and the sky well. Well done.

Mark,

Well done rendering of a night sky. I like the 'realistic" look of this, while I find long exposure night images intriguing I find these much more engaging as I can see and feel myself in the scene.
