Conowingo Dam Eagles

First trip to the Conowingo Dam on the Susquahanna River in upper Maryland. What a fabulous place for watching bald eagles and other birds. There were about 25-30 eagles active here on this day. The river was high and wind blowing about 25MPH. The eagles were really moving fast in this wind.

I captured this shot from quite a distance and its only about 35% of the original photo. I have cropped off the dam face and other rocks that didn't add to the picture.

Tech speccs: Canon 7d, 100-400L lens @ 400mm, ISO1000, f11, 1/2500 sec. hand held.

C&C appreciated.

Nice birdscape, Neven. I think I'd go with a bit lower iso and shutter speed rather than trying to freeze all the action here. The 7D can't really handle that high an iso and the image is showing a lot of noise. It's always a trade-off, but I think you'll find that half that shutter speed would have been sufficient.

Rather like an oil painting .Too bad about the noise factor with the 7D .Dennis is quite correct about not going above 500 Iso ,in fact I do not even like shooting with it above 400.Important thing is youo did capture the scene you wanted too and enjoyed watching this flock of Eagles.
