Merry Christmas!

Hello all!
Here is a Chickadee I photographed this morning. For Christmas my parents helped me fund the last part of the 500mm f/4 I've been saving up for! So now I have a used (but new to me!) 500mm to use! I'm SO excited! So anyhow, this was one of my first shots with it. This was handheld as I do not yet have a gimbal head and I don't trust my existing tripod head with this lens. I learned how heavy these lenses really are after an hour and a half of handholding it!
So if anyone has a gimbal head they don't need I'd love to take it off your hands! (For a reasonable price of course!)
I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and Chanukah!

Please View Large!

Tech Specs:
Canon EOS 7D
Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS
ISO 800
f/5.6
1/400 sec

This is a good beginning with the new lens. Nice exposure and background. I'm sure you're going to love that glass as I do mine but if you're like me it'll take a while to really get the hang of it. Congrats and have fun with it!

Thank you everybody!
Terry- It was a long time in the making... I've been saving up for almost four years. Hope you'll get one soon!
Ron- It is definitely a struggle so far, but a worthwhile struggle! Those few photos that actually turn out are worth all the struggle with camera shake, weight...

Congrats on the new lens....I also bought mine used and could not be happier with it. When you find a way to stabilize it, you're gonna grin from ear to ear when you see how many more keepers you get! Santa lives! Merry Christmas to you! Sharon
