Merry Christmas to everyone here on NPN! It's been another great year for nature photography and I want to thank all my friends here for your comments and participation this past year.

As timing would have it, this is the most appropriate image of the series for a Christmas Day posting. In fact, this image became our family Christmas card this year. I'll call this one either "A Winter's Dress" or "Winter Dressing."

This was the first image of the next day following the previous autumn image. Oh how things can change overnight in Yosemite. One of my personal favorites from this trip.

Season's greetings everyone and all the best in 2012

Lon

ps. The larger version is the Christmas card.

pss. up next, a big 4x5 stitched pano!

Beautiful. I like how the snow goes on and on into the layers of trees behind all that texture.
Merry Christmas to you, too.

Lon: Just wonderful. Reminds me of what our winter has looked like so far. Just a little hint of snow and that little bit of fall hanging on. Keep up the great work and best of wishes for a Happy Holidays and a great 2012 with lots of photo opportunities. :toast:

Merry Christmas, Lon. I like the hints of color in the otherwise monochrome landscape.

Merry Christmas and Happy Harley's Birthday, Lon! Real nice image. The way it is looking, that might be THE snowstorm for the year in Yosemite. Lucky you to be there and get the image!

Your images of trees are always so elegant Lon. This is no exception. This is made even more special with the hint of autumn color in the foreground. Beautiful work. Best wishes for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family!

Nice shot/card Lon, can't wait to see the stitch. I've been hesitant to post panos in such a small format as NPN allows, but if anybody can pull it off..........
Merry Christmas to you and yours and the best for 2012! :toast:

Lon, the subtle colors wonderfully complement the graphic quality of your image to my eye. A classical composition reflecting the serenity of this moment nicely to me.

Hey,

You know I like this one a lot. I have to say, it's probably my favoriteof your's from the trip. Like I said, I don't know how I didn't see this comp, or anything similar. Must have been too focused on something else. I'm glad you saw it though, and captured it in your usual style, and standard of excellence.

I love the trees, but it's the foreground that really makes this one more than the standard fare for snow covered tree shots in Yosemite.

Okay, off to Palm Springs! Going to try and stay a night in Joshua Tree while I'm down there.

I'm a little late to the party...

Merry Christmas, sir! And a Happy Birthday to Mr. Harley!

This is a wonderful image! I love the hints of color, and you've done a nice job resolving the detail in the tree trunks. The snow is icing on the cake.

Terrific job on this Lon, love the little hint of colour in the foreground grasses. Comp is very good, the placement of the trees in the frame is excellent.

Merry Christmas to you too. (my christmas card hasn't arrived yet though  )

Muted colours and a really lovely symmetrical composition about a central vertical axis. I like it.

When there's no one striking element it's got to be about composition, and this is well composed.

Hi Lon :wavey: The hint of frugal color, against the monochrome, and the superb detail of the overall scene , make this a memorable christmas scene!! A little late for christmas, wishing you the best for the new year , and the holiday season.. Always enjoyed your fine work, and beautifully written comments'
