Mountain Harvest

Annapurna Range, Nepal.

The spectacular harvest colors of November in the foothills of the Annapurna Range, Nepal. The high peak in the background is Machapuchare, the sacred 'fish tail' mountain that towers over 20,000 feet above the golden barley fields. I could only see the high mountains on 3 of the 18 days I was there this year- it was a very powerful and late monsoon. I've been wanting to capture an image of the Himalaya with a colorful cultural foreground- this is probably my best attempt. I managed to scope out a few other spectacular foregrounds, but the peaks never showed up again. I'm glad I got this when I had the chance!

Thanks for looking,

Mike

Gorgeous contrast of the foreground native people in the colorful dress against the distant, powerful mountains Mike. I like this a lot.

Beautiful composition Mike..... the foreground is so colorful and with the snow mountain in the back ground this is an awesome picture..... Which is the best time to go to Nepal to see it sunny and bright and have the snow covered mountain ib the back ground all day?? I went to Darjeeling in August and was not able to see the mountain at all...

I love the warm tones of golden hour in the foreground. It really enhances the people and sets them off from the mountain range and sky in the background.

Nice work Mike. My only suggestion would be to consider cloning out the top of the barley(?) in the center of the image so that it doesn't lead out of the frame. IMHO that wouldn't taint the legitimacy of this image as a documentary photo.
