Mallard pair

I photographed this mallard pair as they were coming in for a landing at a nearby lake. I like the graceful synchronicity of the two birds in flight.

D300s with 200-400 and TC 1.4
1/1600 at 5.6 ISO 640
Hand held 53% of full frame.

Thanks for any C&C

Very cool Robert. Nice detail in the birds and good job with the exposure. I like the tight 'section' flight-nicely captured. :toast:

I like the way the ducks standout from the background -- nice to see both heads and heads separate from the wings -- nice flight shot

Awesome flight image Robert. Both ducks are very sharp and in great poses. I like the bit of red in the brush of the background. Held up very well to the crop. :toast:

Sweet mallard pair flight photo Robert!!! The splash of color in the background really set this apart for me.

Nice work getting getting enough sharpness for the second bird, but still maintaining separation in depth. I might run a bit of NR on the BG. The noise isn't really bad, but it is noticeable on the larger version.

Good sharpness on both birds and neat flight postures. Typically I prefer separation of the birds in a shot like this but I was surprised how well this works for me. Background colors are nice too. I notice the noise and might not worry about it for a lesser image but if this were mine I'd bring it down a bit if I could.

Robert, Great catch! Love to shot birds in-flight, ducks are my favorite. These guys are showing off their formation flying skills. Well done getting both in focus!

This comp really works for me Robert. Love the flight positions and the great BG. I too would bring the noise down a bit. Really well done.

Very nice Robert, would be glad to call this mine. Nice sunny look that took it right to the edge, without OE.
The male/female together like this makes it very special. I especially like the reds of the BG, and the male in the superior position.
Well done! :wavey:
