These are my favorite Sparrows! I was able to get several shots of one on a cloudy Thanksgiving day. C&C welcome.

I like this species very much as well. Nice setting and posture. A bit too much empty space at the top for my tastes. I'd also like to see more detail in the black bib - a bit of fill flash would have helped with that.

Eirini, I can see why this is your favorite sparrow; I have not seen one or and image of one before. I agree with Richard about the empty space and even if close to a square crop results, I would bring down the top. Overall a very lovely image.

Love the perch and a colorful bird -- wishing to see a catchlight

This is a really nice image and my thought to improve it would have been to move a little to your left to catch that head with the green bg instead of the ooof white behind it's head. Still a very nice shot with good exposure on bus and whites. Sharon

I like the pose and natural setting. I do see light in the eye and in a larger version it would show up nicely. I too would take some off the top.

Really nice pose and head turn here. I like the colors of the bird, the nice cactus perch and the simple background.

Excellent bird species to have captured. He looks great in this setting, excellent perch but might look even better if the body and head were backed by the darker green area rather than the lighter vegetation - very picky point. I like the dof and detail.

I think getting all green might have made it pop a little better, but the white BG doesn't bother me in the slightest either. You did a good job of isolating the bird. I like the perch and I think the room at the top is fine. My only nit, is the detail in the black doesn't have much detail. I might have exposed this one more to the right and normally try to on darker species. You can always recover the whites from a tad over-exposure (as long as you don't blow them out) more easily than getting details from dark colors in processing since that introduces noise.
