Repost . Having so much fun with these gorgeous Owls .Have managed two trips over to the mainland so far .now we are into a week or more of wet and very dull weather.hope to manage one more trip over on the next sunny day before they head elswhere and will then have to wait another 6/7 years before the next irruption. I decided not to remove the oof tree on the dyke behind ,would have been nicer to have not had the tree there but I was just happy getting the image .What do you think ?
Eos 1D Mk 1V . Canon 500 mm + 1.4 1/3200 at %.6 Iso 400 .cropped from the bottom and the right hand side a little.
Critiques and comments welcome . thank you for looking.

Really nice pose you managed. I don't see too many Snowys in this position on a flight shot. Looks like it could use a touch more sharpening. Also, in the large version, it is a different crop...it is much tighter at the top. I like this crop MUCH better and find the other one to be a bit too tight for my taste. The BG tree doesn't bother me a bit.

Looks great from here! Can't always plan when a tree encroaches on the background during flight. Snowys are just making it in to East Central Nebraska in search of food. Kind of a good news/bad news situation.

Beautiful flight shot! I also like this crop much better. Mixed feelings about the BG tree - it pulls my eye a little, so I think I'd get rid of it.

Great flight shot of such a beautiful bird! Having never had the opportunity to shot one of these I would be happy to have any BG.

Great shot! You have some killer snowy owl shots. Personally I prefer not to modify the environment in my shots so I would leave the tree if it were mine. It is so OOF that it is no distraction for me anyway. Well done. :toast:

Excellent shot, great pose! I also like the tighter from the top crop better in the larger version, the tree doesn't bother me much in it, whereas it pulled my eye more in the original post...
Good capture,

Suzanne,
Simply stunning wing position. I'm with Sandy on this...I'd get rid of the background tree if you could. It's a little bit distracting and it would be nearly flawless with out it. Great composition and good sharpness. I prefer this much better to your previous post. Well done and something to be very proud of. :toast: :toast:

Awesome flight photo Suzanne, the wing position and wide spread tail are perfect. The detail is a pleasure to look at in the large version. You are taking great advantage of the rare opportunity while it is here. Good Luck on your next trip over.

Nice flight position and sharpness Suzanne. In the smaller version the tree grabs my attention while in the larger version it is not much of a factor for me. However, in the larger verison I would leave a bit more at the top for the wing tip IMO.

Wonderful! You really did a terrific job with the light here. It's so nice to have the complete underside of the bird well-lit like this. Beautiful shot! :toast:

Nice flight posture and very good exposure. I prefer the smaller version with more room up top. I'm not particularly bothered by the background tree and wouldn't clone it out.

What a stunning image Suzanne. The wing position and detail is amazing. I don't mind the background tree as it is what it is, etc. Incredible capture!
