I rarely shoot orchids mostly because they frustrate my master gardener so we don't have them around the house much. However, while shopping with her today I could not pass this one up. I'm anticipating a short relationship with this flower and the others on its stem over the next several weeks and thought this would be a nice opening for the new year. All comments welcome. >=))>

PS: Stay tuned for some really big news in Flora in the next week. :jump:>=))>

this is very special. The pov and dof create a beautiful abstract image and the glowing colors are excellent. Very, very nice

nicely done high-key shot Bill. I like the fact you kept the colors and contrast in the center of the throat while presenting the rest of the bloom in high-key.

Looks like you're making the best of your short but sweet relationship with this orchid!

Bill

This is really beautifully. I have many relationships with orchids but they continue to frustrate me. Look forward to seeing the others.

Excellent shot, Bill. Love the "high key" look. Orchids frustrate me photographically. :toast:

I think this orchid would be greatly honored by this image and by the others you'll be shooting. Beautiful work.

I really like how the yellow and red "fade" into white and then you find the bright ovals with the blue edges. That's a neat effect.

Nice whites and a splash of color Bill. I like the comp, though I wonder if the shot could be rotated CCW just a bit...
