Princess Irene

I was going thru some florals taken in 2011 that I hadn't processed yet when I came across this image of my favorite variety, Princess Irene tulips. I am especially attracted to the colors and patterns and when you shoot them early morning, covered in dew, they are absolutely gorgeous.

Good DOF. The good light really shows the dew and the striae of the petals. Lovely colors, and the drama of an almost black bg doesn't hurt. My only tiny nit is the choice of black space volume on the right. It gives the photo a slight out of balance feel to me, but that may just be a personal thing.

Craig, I can see why you like this variety. The colors are striking. Your choice of lighting and the dew only add to the beauty. My minor nit is a feeling of too much emptiness on the rhs that a modest crop would fix.

Beautiful, rich colors and light. I, too, would like a bit less space on the right-hand side.

You do have a way with these tulips, Craig ! A nicely balanced composition, with rich colouring. Like the frame very much too. Wonder whether just glimpsing the stem of the front flower would have been nice but this is lovely as is.

What a beautiful variety of tulips! You have captured the colors so well and I really like the lighting. Nice comp with the foreground one dominant and the two in the BG playing a supporting role. Great shot!
