Water and ice at Crystal Cascades, Mt. Washington, NH. Not much of a winter here in New England yet. It was 50F in Southern New Hampshire today. This was taken in February 2010. My youngest son was climbing Mt. Washington this day (the home of the worst weather in the world) while I played around down below the tree line photographing these falls in subzero wind chill. There were 50 - 60 mph winds where he was so I should not complain.

20 commentsYes, I remember climbing Washington many, many years ago and meeting brutal weather on the summit. The most fascinating thing being the huge ice flutes lying perpendicular from the wires holding the weather station down. Not sure if the station is still there?
Beautiful..

This is superb! I love everything about this from the color, to the texture, flow and composition. There is much to explore and much to try and figure out - which makes this engaging as well. Excellent balance and arrangement between the solid ice and flow of water. One of my new favorites of yours!
