Aren't there some animal rescue groups in the area that might be able to assist the seal. CA F&G might also be involved. These would be the groups that do the oil spill stuff. Hard to see an animal suffer from something that could be so easily fixed if they could capture it. I was saddened to to see the photo of the hippo a few days ago that had line caught in its mouth. Doubt they will be able to do much for it just due to it's size, etc.

Hi Peter,
Actually, Sea World does the animal rescues in this area. A few minutes after this shot the Sea Lion left however, and I didn't see were he was headed. I'll see if I can find him again in the area over the next few days, and if I do I'll give them a call. They won't come out unless you have an eye on the animal.

A real awful sight to see - poor animal. This is a prime example of "out of sight - out of mind" - we all know it's happening but until we see it - we don't worry about it

Very sad shot Charlie. I can't really tell where he's hooked from the shot . . . hopefully (and I'm admittedly being optimistic) it's superficial enough that he can recover.

Very sad and hard to look at.
Looks as if you're finding some great owls in WA too -
Congrats on the WP!
