Black Phoebe

I believe all of my Black Phoebe photos come from the same place...the old "Sutro Baths" on the NW shore of San Francisco. I go there for work a few times a year, and often head to the coast for a bit. I like to bird around this part of the coast, and for all I know, every Black Pheobe photo I have is of the same bird!

Canon 50D, 400 5.6L, f8, 1/800. No flash. The perch is a old bit of concrete and rusty metal from the baths.

The bird is an absolute beauty. Wonderful detail, light and exposure. I actually like the perch and wouldn't have guessed it was concrete without your disclosure. If this were mine I might crop to get rid of the very narrow bit of perch to the right. I scrolled the larger version to eliminate it and don't think it would be too tight on the virtual tail if you chose to do so. Very nice image.

Terry, good exposure & feather detail here. Nice job isolating the bird from the background as well.

This is really nice Terry. The perch has great texture and color and the background shows the bird well.

Good looking bird. Good light, detail, nice catchlight. Nice detail in the shadows and I like the "licheny" concrete perch (or whatever that is on the concrete) and the clean BG. Nicely done.
