Focusing on the red tail of a Red-tailed hawk mantling over prey in the snow. Wild bird, not baited. Nikon D300s with 300mm f2.8+1.4tc. ISO-500, f5.6, S-1/1000. Thanks, Ray

I think this is really cool, as the real point of interest of that scene - the prey - is hidden by another point of interest, the bright red tail.

Great perspective! Fun to see a behavior I didn't know about.
As to critique, I think everyone else put forth all that's so wonderful about this image. The snowy surroundings help add to the mystery of what is going on here. Sure stopped in my tracks when scrolling through the thumbs and arriving at this!

Neat capture of a cool behavior. The red tail really stands out. Great job keeping the whites under control.

This is great, Ray! The symmetry is particularly appealing - and the color and detail keep me looking. What a fantastic view!
