RMNP Raptor shoot

Yesterday, about 20 of us from the RMNP forum met for a raptor shoot. A volunteer group from Colorado brought 4 raptors which cannot be released to the wild for various reasons. We raised about $200.00 from participants to help them out.

I am NOT a wildlife photographer, landscapes are my forte. However I learned sooo much from the wildlife experts in RMNP that I was actually able to catch a couple shots that I really liked.

This is a gyrfalcon that was near a frozen pond. I did no post processing whatsoever on this..I wouldn't even know how to PP a bird image!

This was one of the best times I've had in years and a chance to shoot something totally different than what I'm used to. Thanks for looking.

Great job Jack! Your gyrfalcon is beautiful ! It's perfect I wouldn't change a thing. I, too, had such a great time...thank you for making it happen. I do hope we consider doing this again... maybe in the summer when they have some new birds! See you soon. Blessings, Deb

sounds like a cool opportunity, Jack! this is a cool closeup, but the comp doesn't work well for me--I think it needs to be either tighter (for a true portrait) or looser (to include the whole bird). I think that the bird could use a little more room at left to look into either way.
