Fading Memories

That's what I have of scenes like this! It's been so long since conditions like this have existed in the Sierra. Actually, this is from last fall. If not for the early storm, this and the few others I've shared would not have come to be. Hoping for something in the form of snow the end of the week. I caught this scene as I was leaving the park and had to gain enough elevation that I got up into the weather again. Large version included.

Thanks,
Chris

I feel your pain of no snow Chris. I like the contrasts and light you have captured here.

Beautiful winter scene Chris! Love that color contrast between bark and snow. The large version really shines!

This is great, Chris. I like the light tones in the trees with the snow. Good stuff.

Chris,

This is wonderful!! I love the near high-key effect/presentation. Did you process this intentionally for that effect, or are you rendering the scene/conditions close to what you experienced? I see the snow was coming down pretty good so I suspect it's the latter. Regardless, this is an outstanding winter, pine-forest image. Great work!

Graphic and very interesting. The lightness here feels like visual reverb from the snow.

Chris, thanks for sharing this tiny bit of Sierra winter with us, although as stated taken last fall. Seems like we're in for a real dry one this year.
This is really outstanding for this type of scene. This type of image has always been a challenge for me to see or capture....

Very nice Chris! I always enjoy this type of scene and this is a good one! Excellent job working out your comp here. Very appealing image. :toast:
We didn't have any snow but now had two nice snows in the last week. I just finished plowing about 5 minutes ago. I will head out tomorrow morning and see if I can find something to shoot.

Thanks folks, I appreciate it.

Lon,
I guess a little of both. it was certainly bright and snow was blowing across the scene as I captured this. But, I did also process for a bright presentation as well.

Thanks!

I keep staring at this Chris and feel myself simply captured, even mesmerized by the incredible range of tones and textures. This is fine art photography in my opinion. Exquisite.

Cgris, I like the plainness of your composition that shows this scene at its best in my opinion. Your processing is spot on in my opinion, especially the subtle colors, and I enjoy exploring all the delightful details.

Hopefully you'll get the snow you want, Chris. As for the image, it's simple and very effective. The almost lack of shadows is giving a sureal effect here.

This is great Chris. I love the luminosity. I'd be tempted to cool it off a bit, but I like your rendition very much.
