I like it as is, but I'm also debated about that barbed wire: sometimes i think it adds something to the picture itself, sometimes it looks like it has nothing to do with the main subject and make me wandering how to cut the picture to remove it. up 'till now none of my myself won the fight.

Hope it make sense, Luca

Sandy, I love that the colors in the bird are the same as the colors on the post. The turn of the bird's head is really nice and the background is lovely. I gave some thought to the barbed wire myself and I don't think that a crop above the wire would look as nice as the composition you have shown here.

Love the perch as much as the bird. Definitely keep the barbed wire. :wavey:

LOVE how the colors of the perch and bird are so complimentary. Beautiful light, nice catchlight, nice head turn.

For me, the barbed wire gives a sense of scale; it allows us to appreciate how small the subject is.

I like this which surprised me given the size of the perch compared to the bird. It's soooo much bigger that it just works for me. Rustic often charms me which is the case here and the wire is a significant amount of that charm. More DOF might have been a plus but it looks like you were close to your effective limit given the situation.

Something different for sure. I think it does work though and I agree cropping the wire out would take away from the shot, I think you made the right choice. Well done. :toast:

Great shot Sandy. I really like all of the elements in this shot - they work together very well.

I don't know why but I kind of like the barbed wire. It adds to the shades of brown and along with the yellows make the image for me and of course you great techs.

I normally wouldn't like a perch with fencing but this one is very interesting and the yellow mold/fungus adds a nice touch

I think that this composition is as much about the post and barbwire as it is about the bird. I like everything about the composition and the subject, but I wish that the post and wire were also sharp. Nice, Sandy. :toast:

I like the perch and the wire. Rustic works for me. The size of the bird related to the perch is so extreme it makes me look at the bird, so this works for me. Very different comp. Nice job thinking out the box a bit on this comp.
