I really like the comp of this - I think the BG really adds to the interest. I like included habitat and your use of DOF works well to emphasize the bird.

personally I think the BG is too intrusive and does not helps the Quail to pop up.

cool pose, nice comp, and I love the bg, Eirini. a lower angle would minimize the gravel and accentuate the great cactus setting.

I like this just as it is. A lower angle would have minimized gravel, but the bird would have been superimposed on the cactus as a background and I think the gravel does a better job of this, just as you have presented it. I like the diminutive nature of the bird in the frame and the great pose. The light falls just right.
Well done.

I really like this composition, and I like the angle just as you have it. I also like the look of awareness of the bird.

Eirini, I like the pose of the quail here. I think you also did a good job with the composition & separating the bird from the background. Nice work!

Would love to see a larger version so I could take in all the detail in the bird and gravel. I love the comp. The bird's position is great as is the pose. The cacti in the BG really give this a sense of place.

I too like this as posted. The quail's in just the right position to make the background work and give a sense of place with this DOF. Interesting image.
