Streak-backed Oriole

Very late in the afternoon I found this Oriole and two others hopping from branch to branch on a tree outside my hotel room. They would poise themselves like this and then jump to the next branch with their wings tucked close in.

Papagayo Bay, Guanacaste, CR.

Very nice photo. Really atractive light. I especially like the play of highlight and shadow on this bird. The pose, perch and BG are excellent and it certainly doesn't hurt that it's a very beautiful bird but IMO it's the light that makes this one standout. Well done! :toast:

Excellent - your best to date IMO. Nice detail and exposure; great pose.

I know this species well from the one that returned to the Gilbert Water Ranch three winters - it too would get in a variety of contorted positions.

I especially like the pose, nice BG too :toast:

Great image! The position of the bird reminds me of the old Audubon bird paintings.
