I have no idea whether ants see in color. But pretend for a second they only see in monochrome. This may then be what they see when looking up. The idea here is to give the viewer the perspective of being very small. Just playing with some Shasta daisys taken in my yard last summer. D700, 17-35 @ 19.

Scott:
A very fresh and interesting perspective! I like the processing here as well good tonal range and some degree of translucency to the petals. :toast:

Scott, this is great. I always tell my friends to look up, look down and look behind when you're out there as you just never know what you'll see. And I "see" a great composition in this image from an unusual vantage point. Very nice.

Great idea, very well executed- Like the perspective, the placement of the daisys within the frame and your BW conversion- I'm quite curious to know if you used autofocus on this one (or the aid of a well trained critter)- Very well done, Fabio

Thanks for the comments.

Fabio, this was hand held and manually focused at f22; taken mid-day laying on my back with my body in the yard and my head in the flower bed. The wide angle lens, of course, helped the convey the impression that the flowers are way high (helped by the fact that this variety of Shasta grows about 2 feet tall). This particularly flower bed is next to the street. I was actually laying there for a while trying different comps and hoping to catch a bee in the photo as well. Some neighbors walked by and got a pretty good laugh.

Nicely done. I wouldn't have thought to convert it to monochrome but it really makes for a great photo.

Quite an eye catcher, Scott ! I'm imagining this also as the view of a little seedling thinking it'll never make it. Great idea and beautifully executed.

Late to the party on this one but I had to chime in on this most excellent shot. Great POV and the entire treatment of the image makes it very unique. Good choiice on the BW. I'm going to have to plagerize the idea.
