Fragile

These hydrangea petals were first placed on the scanner in a random arrangement. After the first scan I took the petals in my hand and crushed them and just let them fall to the scanner glass. This second scan was added as a layer to the first scan. I removed the color from the petals and processed the images in Nik Software's Silver Efex Pro - Fine Art Process selection.

I was just trying to show how fragile life is, even plant life, as I layered the two images.

Scanner: Epson Perfection V33

Your feedback is greatly appreciated as I continue this journey of scan art.

Barbara:
I have not tried B&W conversion on a scan before but it make sense to do it since the scanner can capture fabulous details as you have shown here. I like your artistic vision and your creativity in blending two layers. Looking at the image, I have a couple of suggestions for your consideration. I would probably increase the tonal range in the first layer or increase the contrast some. You may also like to consider expanding the second layer to fill the entire frame and make it look like the bg for the first layer.

Barbara: Well conceived. My thoughts echo Gary to a tee, especially with regard to the crushed leaf BG. >=))>

Thanks for your feedback Gary and Bill. I see what you mean about the contrasts and the second layer for the background. Great suggestions. Let me work on that and see how I can improve this image. Thanks again.
