Another Bosque Landing

I hope people don't mind seeing some more Bosque shots. I have a good variety of goose and crane poses that I plan to post. Here's another landing Snow Goose. A little more dof for that back wing would have been better, and if I'd been paying attention I could have had it. Nonetheless, I think it's a good pose with good details.

I appreciate your critiques and comments. Please view the larger version if possible.

f/5.6, 1/2500, ISO 320, I worked in manual exposure pretty much this whole trip.

Crop to 64% of original (11.5 of 18MP)

Canon 7D, 500mm + 1.4x TC, tripod

I like the pose too but wish the dark diagonal line wasn't there. Also, this is a Ross's Goose.

good catch, Charles--Ross's it is. bill looks a little on the long side but everything else is right.

I would agree with Ross's, but it can be really hard to tell especially with a dirty bill and no overall size comparision with other birds. Speed of wing beat really helps discern the two as well. Love the shot. Wonderful flight position, exposure, and detail were in counts. BG is super IMO. Very nice!

Another super flight shot Brian. Great BG and excellent detail, and the position of the feet are most interesting-he's go all the drag out he can muster!

Nice job in getting this exposure and dealing with the whites and still showing detail. I happen to like your other landing pose a little better because of the wings position being up and this wing position hides some of the body but I do realize these are very difficult shots to get. I also like you choice of f5.6 so the background makes the goose stand out more. Looking forwared to seeing more.

Wow Brian,
Fantastic pose, good control over the whites, and a back ground that really sets this off. The far wing being slightly OOF does not bother me at all. Super image Brian. :toast:
