Roadside Hawk

I've never seen one of these hawks by the roadside so I have no idea how it came by it's name. We spotted this guy near the entrance to La Casona, the famous hacienda for which Santa Rosa National Park was founded, and followed him towards a trail by which he was perched.

Guanacaste, Costa Rica.

Nicely done. Can't think of a single criticism worth mentioning. Color, detail, eye contact, etc. all look good to me. Maybe a shade less contrast.

Awesome! A bird I've dreamed of a few times, based on one or two times this bird has been seen in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas.

Great detail, strong composition - a great look at a neat hawk.

So nice! I like the slightly OOF branches in the BG. His eye seems to look right through you. Well done. :toast:

Very impressive feather detail on the larger image, the light, composition and look from the hawk are great. Excellent shot, the larger image was a pleasure to view.

great looking bird, Chuck. nice details and a cool eye. I agree about taking a little off the top, maybe just enough to remove the brownish thing at upper left.

Charles,
Very sharp image of a neat looking bird. Love the feathers jutting out ever so slightly on the right side.

Makes you wonder how some birds come by their names. Hope you had a great shoot in Costa Rica!
