Mallard in motion

For some reason this winter I have been on this kick of experimenting with slow shutter speeds and fast moving subjects. And actually creating some fairly nice keepers (I think). Here's one from a local pond that I think came out kind if interesting.

Canon MkIV, 300mm, 1/30, f5.6, ISO 800, manual spot meter, cropped 20% all around.

All your comments and suggestions are very much appreciated.

Pretty cool. I am glad to be able to see the heads thru the wings.

neat shot, Ken. great color in the water, and I agree--it's an interesting and different take on the bird.

A fun image. Slow shutter speeds are more difficult to create images with than it appears. I like the vivid colors.

Ken,
It certainly works ok for me. I like that I can see the head through the wings. Just wish that either the head or the feet were a tad sharper. Superb colors and I love the water ripples. Cool image Ken.

Interesting experiment you have going and this works for me, very cool mallard abstract with pleasing colors all around. I really like the aqua blue like streaks in the water and the mallard has enough color to make this work. Interesting to see something different, way to go.

At first I thought with the duck going away from you that it detracted from the image but after having viewed it a second time, the fact that you can see the head through the blurred wings is really cool. I'll have to join you at Titlow one of these afternoons. :toast:
