It's Silly Season

I went out early this morning to the local nature area to check on the deer and wild turkeys. The tom turkeys seem to be feeling the effect of the increasing daylight as there was much more activity among them than there was on Monday. Things can move fast. This particular tom I heard gobbling so I wandered over his way and found him very cooperative. He did lots of strutting and tail fanning for me and even a few gobbles. No females responded and in fact I saw no hens today at all. Just toms. This particular tom should be very handsome when the red color comes in on his caruncles (the lobes on his neck). So guess I'll be fairly busy now following the antics of breeding turkeys. Be prepared for more photos of these handsome birds. Comments and critiques welcomed and appreciated.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm seeing a cyan cast on the whole picture. Maybe an adjustment on the white balance. Otherwise a nice shot.

love the setting, dof, and comp here, Peter. great pose from the tom too. might do a little shadow/highlight adjustment on the bird (on the brightest part of the head and the darkest feathers behind it), but just a minor suggestion on a really good looking shot.
