I like the heron, not so much the background. Would have liked to have had more room on the right, but adding canvass was not an option due to the trees. Critiques and comments welcome.

This shot capture the essence of the bird in flight. I like the way his beak is open. Too bad about your inability to add space on the right.

Nice sharp shot, great wing detail. I like the open mouth. Eye crisply in focus. Background nicely out of focus. I don't know what post-processing program you have, but in PS5, one thing to try would be to add a bit of canvas on the right, select the canvas and do an Edit-->Fill-->Content Aware and see what happens.

I like the action here a lot, Jerry. That open beak is really nice. The background isn't too bad--pretty nicely out of focus. The one thing I might consider would be to clone or crop out the twigs on the mid left and the upper left corner...they just jump out at me a bit.
Otherwise, great shot,
Jaymes

Good self-criticism, Jerry. It does look as if the white on the cheek might be blown a bit too. If you were shooting RAW, you might be able to bring it down. The bg is a tough one. I don't know what you can do about it.
