Hoary Marmot, Denali National Park

This marmot put on quite a show for us as we hiked along the Savage River. This was my favorite from the "shoot". I liked the pose and the intent look on his face. He took off right after I took this picture. He seemed to have spotted something behind us. It was a bit disconcerting when he bolted like that, but we never did spot what he saw.

Canon 7D
100-400 mm at 250mm
1/250 at F5.6
ISO 400

Looks gorgeous against that dark background. Almost like a well thought out studio image with an obedient model

Oh and love the way its showing off its forelimbs ! Never before have i noticed the black gloves

A cool pose here Allen. A very pleasing shot and all I would suggest for a minor improvement is to tone down the white spots on the rock just behind (left) of the marmot.
