Startrails Gurnigel

Image taken end of december 2011. One afternoon I thought the conditions seem to be perfect for a startrail shoot in the swiss alps. So I just drove to "Gurnigel" pass in the Berner Oberland and hiked to this place. Getting a nice composition was pretty difficult. Actually I wanted an interesting foreground but couldn't find anything. Then I decided for this compositon. I thought this would work, too. Setting up my shot while it was still light out I had to change my composition when it was dark. Since this is a ski area after 7pm they came out with the snow groomers to prepare the ski slopes for the next day and most of the mountains were lit up with floodlight. So I changed my comp a little bit. This is a image of 17 single exposures processed and stacked in "lighten Screen Blending-Mode" in photoshop. RAW files processed in Lightroom.
Thought I post this in Man & Nature since there's man made light pollution.

Techs:Nikon D700,AF-S Nikkor 16-35mm f/4G ED VR@20mm Iso:400,74sec,f8,17 single exposures blended manually in photoshop

Wow. Amazing. Well done. Love the panorama combined with the long trails. I think the light pollution actually adds to the photo. In any case: :toast:

Wonderful startrail shot! I'm always impressed with the perservance needed to take these shots. I like how the trails are in a variety of colors. The beautiful mountains make a great base for this shot.

Very nice star trails. The details in the larger version are incredible. You did a great job keeping the noise low.
