One More from Fort Pike

Last from this location for the time being, from last weekend. The fort is on my route to Bayou Sauvage, so many times I've passed it up on my way for avian work at the refuge. Shot in the morning Satrduay in heavy overcast/rainy conditions, so it was very dark in the gun chambers. I decided to drop the color out and tone it. Larger image included.

Bill, I don't know if you shot in B/W or converted but this image doesn't pop like the last. I see you included more of the arch of the left. It's almost too light in this light. Over all I like your previous post better.

Cheers,

Carol

This sure tickles my symmetry bug with all the repeating arches shrinking into the depths. The soft light really helps see all that depth.

Exceptional perspective here, so we can see thru the far arches. The B&W treatment emphasizes the marvelous lines and textures.
Congrats on the WP!

Loved the color image similar to this but this gives an entirely different feel, distilling the scene down, as b/w can in the right hands, to texture, line, and tone. Those arches as you have composed this, seem to beckon the viewer on and on, more so than the color. Outstanding work.

Well composed, Bill. The passageway to the left gives the viewer or
visitor a choice which way to look or walk. The four arches create a
very good 3D effect. The bicks throughout (floor and walls) add nice
texture. The curvilinear line in the floor breaks up the brick pattern
nicely and helps lead the eye to the end of the tunnel/walkway. The
large foreground cracks in the brick wall give a feeling of aging and
again breaks up the constancy of the brick texture. This is a very
special image.

Very nice image, Bill. Great camera placement. The exposure is so spot on throughout the scene, it almost looks HDR. I can't imagine the scene actually having such an even lighting, but I have never been there. I rarely say this, but I wouldn't mind seeing this with increased contrast in some areas.
